Adecco

Detailed plan of activities related to the European Year of People with Disabilities

>> Adecco website

In addition to the national projects that Adecco is going to develop with people with disabilities in each of the 15 EU Member States by the Adecco Foundations or by Adecco Group companies, in the framework of the European Year of People with Disabilities 2003 Adecco Group would like to carry out 3 main projects throughout the 15 EU Member States to eliminate some of the main barriers that make the integration of people with disabilities into society more difficult. Thus, Adecco will attack the barriers of employment, accessibility, education and social integration.
These projects are the following:

A) PLACE 7,000 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES INTO THE EU LABOUR MARKET.

During 2003 Adecco Group commits itself to placing 7,000 people with disabilities into the EU labour market. The current experience and the know-how that Adecco Group has in this matter in France, Italy and Spain can be well-used in the rest of the Member States.
Adecco will take advantage of the existing Adecco Foundations and the relationship made by them with a lot of associations of people with disabilities, institutions, companies and public administrations to achieve that goal.
For these people to find a place into the labour market, the personnel of Adecco Group branches and Adecco Foundations will develop the following activities in relation with people with disabilities:
- recruitment and selection of candidates so as to create a database to respond to and adjust the employment offers
- professional orientation, training and/or retraining candidates
- detection of employment offers
- contact with companies to inform them of the legal situation, advantages and the Adecco’s experience of contracts with people with disabilities and signing of collaboration agreements.

With this project, Adecco will attack the barrier of employment. Adecco really thinks that labour integration is one of the main steps to obtain the social integration of people with disabilities.

B) NEW ADECCO BRANCHES ACCESSIBLE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Adecco commits itself to making accessible to people with disabilities every new Adecco Group branch on ground floor that will be set up within the EU from 2003 onwards as long as the buildings and the premises owners permit.
Even more, Adecco can also commit itself to eliminating architectural barriers in the 3,200 existing Adecco Group branches on ground floor as far as possible from a legal and contractual point of view, having the prior agreement of the premises owners. In this sense, in January 2003 Adecco’s CEO will send a letter to the Adecco’s premises owners and to the Adecco EU Country Managers in order to obtain their collaboration to reach this objective.
With this project Adecco will attack the barrier of accessibility.

C) ORGANIZE 15 CONFERENCES ABOUT LABOUR INTEGRATION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Adecco can take the advantage of the presence of the EYPD bus in some important EU cities to organize 15 conferences to discuss the labour integration of people with disabilities.
In each conference Adecco will try to join at least 200 relevant national people, representing the people with disabilities, business, politics, university … areas as well as Adecco clients in a half-day conference. The conferences will be with free access and take place in a representative place.
With these conferences at least 3,000 relevant people can be sensitized across the EU.
In each EU Member States, Adecco will contact some important associations of people with disabilities to collaborate with them in the organization and dissemination of the conferences.
With this project Adecco will attack the barrier of education.
